NewsKeisel could return to special teamsJuly 30, 2008 Brett Keisel, a special-teams stalwart until earning a promotion to starting defensive end in 2006 removed him from many of his kicking-game responsibilities, worked with the second kickoff and kickoff return teams on Tuesday morning during the first special teams practice of training camp. "They're talking about maybe throwing me out on a kickoff or two," Keisel said. "I've told them if they need me I'll do it. That was kind of my thing coming in here. I needed to be ready if my number was called." Keisel easily won the "big guys" heat of Sunday's conditioning test, sprinting past quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who had opted to run with the linemen, and outdistancing most of the rest of the field by half the football field on his eighth and final 100-yard dash. Keisel campaigned to return to his kickoff coverage role a year ago but his pleas fell on deaf ears. |
