"Ben has obviously been faced with some serious adversity and it has definitely tested his character," said Steelers' defensive end Brett Keisel, one of Roethlisberger's closest friends.
"People are quick to cast the first stone, you know. Everybody has made mistakes in their lives. It's what we do with those mistakes that test us.
"(But) he's made all the right steps that he needed to get on with his life, not only to make himself a better football player but a better man.
"I think Ben has really found himself. I'm not saying he was lost before, but I think he's figured out who he wants to be and what type of person he wants to be and what type of life he wants to live."
